Arafmi, I want to thank you so much for what you are doing for Stephen and I.
I am so much less stressed out each day now. Just having the house to myself for a couple of hours each day for the last few weeks, I have finally been able to organise our bedroom. (It has taken 5 years).
Stephen demands so much attention, that I can’t concentrate or get anything done when he is here all the time (because of my ADD & Aspergers).
Also-after seeing the dietician, Stephen has for the first time in the 7 years I’ve known him made himself a healthy dinner without once asking for my help. It is the same relief you get when your kid doesn’t need help going to the toilet anymore. Do you know what I mean?
I honestly can’t believe how much difference the carers support makes in our lives. They probably think they are not doing much with Stephen-but his biggest need is someone to talk to and be that second arm he is missing. And for me to have breaks from being that person is starting to make me feel sane again.
